Maintaining your summer bikini body
Advertorial Feature
With the cold winter chill in the air, summer seems a thing of the past. But that doesn’t mean your summer shape needs to be left behind too! Follow these handy tips and hold onto your bikini body through the cold winter months.
1. Don’t drink the fizzy stuff
Gas in fizzy drinks can make you look bloated, which is not what you want when you need to be rocking a bikini shape! They’re loaded with empty calories (most around 250 calories) and sugar which won’t fill you up but leave you bloated instead, meaning you’ll have to eat the same amount of calories to fill up. To give you an idea two hundred calories is roughly equivalent to 145g cooked pasta. But that doesn’t mean that that you should switch over to diet fizzy drinks to save on calories as diet drinks are more harmful and here’s why:

Sucralose, an artificial sweetener used in diet drinks can reportedly increase appetite and sugar cravings. Again, not something you want if you’re trying to maintain a trim and toned look.
2. Quench your thirst
One of the first signs of dehydration is hunger. It’s so easy to forget to drink enough, especially when it’s cold outside, and when you do forget your body cries out for water; even if it’s in the form quick-fix food. After all, it has to get its water from somewhere.
If you start to feel first twinges of hunger creeping up on you, drink a large glass of water and wait ten minutes. This could be just what your body needs, and you might stop feeling hungry altogether. If you still feel hungry, then of course, eat.
3. Work out your hunger scale
It’s in our culture to wine and dine with friends, especially in the run up to Christmas, and this can lead to overeating. We’re all guilty of it; you’re catching up over dinner with an old friend, and before you know it you’ve had three rich courses and are sharing a cheese board.
If you’re trying maintain a trim look in a short space of time then portion sizes are key factors in this quest. If we take 1 to be ‘weak and woozy’ – i.e. you’re so hungry you’ll eat anything, now! and 10 to be ‘stuffed’, as in Christmas Day stuffed, and you never want to look at food again, then normally, a middle-ground number 6 is where you should be aiming – absolutely comfortable; satisfied and content. If you want to shed a few pounds, try and hit a number 5: you’re comfortable, but could eat a little more.
You’ll soon train your body to eat what’s right for you, and you’ll keep your trim look through the cold winter months!
