A BANNER promoting Sherborne's first literary festival has been stolen from its prime position in Cheap Street, it is claimed.

Organisers of the festival, Sherborne Literary Society, say the banner was "ripped" from railings opposite Swan Yard.

Committee member Steve Haigh said: "The banner cost us at least £90 and we really would like it back so we can use it again. We needed it to promote the festival."

Anyone with information can contact the society through the website www. sherborneliterarysociety.com.
