Landslip closes Lyme Regis beach access road 'indefinitely'

A landslip has blocked an access road 'indefinitely' at Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis.

Persistent heavy rain has forced police to close the road and urge people to stay away from beach chalets and not cross the barricade.

More rain is expected today - with a yellow weather warning issued by the Environment Agency for Lyme Regis and Bridport.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "As a result, the road has been closed indefinitely.

"No-one has been injured in this incident - Dorset Police advise that there is a risk to the beach chalets and urge chalet owners not to try and access their properties under any circumstances.

"Members of the public must not cross police tape that is closing the road as there is a considerable risk of a further landslip."
