LEAF prompts Emma to take forest ride
EMMA Hendry was so impressed with the support of LEAF, which aids leukaemia sufferers, that she and her partner, Alan Howard are planning to raise funds for the local charity by taking part in a bike ride.
Emma was diagnosed with leukaemia in March last year. The fact she had previously battled with Hodgkin's Lymphoma only deepened her sense of personal devastation. But LEAF, founded by Natasha Jones from Wimborne, after she had been diagnosed with leukaemia herself, were on hand to offer Emma both practical help and a listening ear.

Emma Hendry and partner Alan Howard are planning a cycle ride across the New Forest to raise funds for Leaf
Emma said: "I was in Bournemouth hospital when a nurse told me about LEAF. I got in touch with them and spoke to Natasha.
"The help provided by Natasha and LEAF has been immense. Because I'd become so weak I thought I'd have to give up my two dogs. But LEAF have arranged for a dog walker.
"Housework had become impossible for me, but LEAF were also able to arrange for a cleaner to come in three days a week.
"LEAF's assistance was also invaluable when I had to go to hospital in Southampton. My partner Alan had to give up work, and they were able to help us financially."
Emma is especially full of praise for LEAF founder Natasha Jones.
"Natasha has been a true inspiration, she said. "When I was diagnosed with Leukaemia I felt that I had lost control of my life. Natasha was able to understand this. What LEAF has done is offer me peace of mind."
