Jazz Supper with the Art Themen Quartet

ONE of the UK's top jazz saxophonists Art Themen and his quartet will be playing at a charity supper at the New Remembrance Hall in Charlton, near Shaftesbury this Saturday, 16th March. The event is part of the fund raising efforts by the Friends of Donhead St Andrew Church for alterations to the ancient Saxon church so that it can be used for a wider variety of events, including concerts.

Art was a member of the award winning Cambridge University jazz band in the 60s. He played in the early London blues scene with Jack Bruce and Alexis Korner, and in 1976 went on to play with the Stan Tracey quartet around the world over the following 20 years.

He is a busy and sought after musician who has been seen on stage with the best of Britain's top jazz players including Alan Barnes, John Donaldson, Georgie Fame and Don Weller.
