ITV drama Broadchurch can give Dorset's Jurassic Coast some much-deserved attention according to tourism officials.

The eight-part series starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman was filmed along the coast at West Bay in West Dorset, written by Dorset's own Chris Chibnall.

The first episode which aired on March 4 attracted nearly 7 million viewers, with the Visit Dorset tourism team working closely with ITV to show the increased audience what Dorset has to offer.

Leader of West Dorset District Council Robert Gould said: "Broadchurch represents a unique opportunity for Dorset's fantastic Jurassic coastline to gain and it's promising to see that the initial response to the series is generating a large amount of interest in the area."
