Hoping weather will be kind to church fete
A FETE usually held in the middle of the summer has been delayed in the hope of avoiding bad weather.
The annual Church of the Sacred Heart and St Aldhelm fete is set to take place on Saturday, September 14, in Pageant Gardens, Sherborne, from 1pm to 4pm.
Organisers have said this year a plan was made to delay the event in the hope of catching some last minute sun rays, avoiding previous wet weather as experienced last year.
Peter Rhodes, a member of the organising committee, said: "The event is normally in June but the last three years we've had rain when setting up.

"We seem to have been having Indian summers in September so we thought we'd give it a go this time of year instead."
Town councillor Mr Rhodes said 2013 has seen the fete branch out.
He said: "We now have a kiddies corner, a barbecue, a Pimms tent and much more.
"It's the highlight of the church year for fundraising."
The fete will be opened by Adrian Aylward, headmaster of Leweston School.
Entry costs £1, and is free for children.
