Help keep Christchurch beaches tidy with clean-up event
A litter-free beach campaign is celebrating it's first year anniversary by holding a beach clean-up in Christchurch.
The Litter Free Coast and Sea campaign, run by Christchurch Borough Council will hold the event on Sunday January 6 at 10:30am.
Last year, 17 events took place with help from a range of community groups - allowing litter to be removed from the Christchurch coast.
The Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr Peter Hall said: "I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to help keep our coastline free from litter.

"Most people here are very responsible and take their litter home with them but a lot of the litter collected gets brought in with the tide.
"People who take part in the litter picks usually enjoy the day as it's good exercise and it gives them the feeling that they are helping keep the local environment clean."
Anyone interested in joining the Mayor on the beach clean-up should meet at 10:30am at the wave wall below Steamer Point.
All equipment will be provided for those taking part.
