Gill floating on cloud nine after thumping win
A RAMPANT Gillingham Town side steamrollered AFC Bitton 9-2 in Tuesday night's Toolstation Western League Premier Division encounter.
However, they squandered a golden opportunity to take their score into double figures late on when defender Gary Bowles missed an 88th minute penalty.
Adrian Foster's men got off to a perfect start when Aaron Rodriguez beat three Bitton defenders in the area before slotting. They doubled their lead midway through the first half when Ben Thomson crossed for brother Nick, who headed home.
Bitton pulled one back just after the half hour mark, but Rodriguez's free-kick two minutes later restored Gill's two-goal lead. Bitton grabbed a second minutes before the break, but Gillingham responded once more, Ben Thomson lobbing the keeper for 4-2.

The goals continued to flow in the second half, as full back Nick Thomson scored his second when he once again headed home from brother Ben's cross, before bringing up his hat-trick four minutes later.
Further goals from Jack Vallis, Ashley Clarke and Harry Baker compounded Bitton's misery.
