Funding boost for Bournemouth's food banks
Food banks in Bournemouth have received extra funding from councillors.
The Community food bank at St Andrew's Church, Kinson and the Bournemouth Vineyard Church food bank in Charminster will receive £1,500 each to help pay for essential emergency food supplies for those Bournemouth residents finding themselves in crisis.
Councillor David Smith, Cabinet Member for Planning and Environment, said: "The food banks in Bournemouth play an extremely important role in our community helping to support our most vulnerable residents in need.
"I am pleased that the ward councillors have brought to the Council's attention the increased need and demand on the food banks, particularly over Christmas and I hope this funding will help the food banks to continue their fantastic work to support our local community."

The food banks are responsible for issuing food packages to those who are deprived or in serious financial circumstances.
Residents who are in need can obtain vouchers to enable them to be given a supply of food. The food banks also provide residents with other help and advice including debt counselling and budget coaching.
