French dancers bring new circus to Gillingham
FOUR talented contemporary circus artists from Compagnie Hors Pistes in Carcassonne France will be performing at nine rural locations across the South West of England.
This physically adept young French company made their UK debut in 2012, delighting the thousands who attended the Inside Out Festival at Ashmore. This September, and following great demand, they are back in the UK and returning to Dorset to launch the Artsreach autumn programme with Ordures et Ménagère, a comic and high energy show that has been created to be performed outdoors.
Featuring incredible acrobatics and stunts the show is captivating in its simplicity, as everyday objects become part of an energetic, thrilling and humorous performance.
It is the story of Mr and Mrs Anybody who have what you might imagine to be a quiet life with a nice, orderly routine. But things are not always as they seem. As the story infolds we begin to see who the characters really are; fantasies are intensified and their lives are transformed into a contemporary circus by the use of brilliant choreography and memorable music. All four artists are highly skilled performers and as one acrobatic lift flows gracefully into the next aerial somersault they make the whole thing appear completely effortless, but be warned – please don’t try this at home! This is circus at its best, with risk, exploit, prowess and a pinch of eccentricity, so grab a blanket, pack a picnic and join the circus for a spectacular start to autumn.
