Val Mitchell, carers engagement facilitator who has over 25 years’ experience working with carers in the south said: “Carers experience a range of feelings and often say to me ‘I feel confused by what the doctor/nurse/social workers are saying’; ‘I don’t like to ask or complain’; I don’t feel that I am being taken seriously’; ‘It’s hard for me to tell people about how I feel as a carer’.
“This course is designed to help family carers feel more confident in a range of situations. It’s very important that we support people who are in this situation to work alongside professionals as they have expertise that professionals can draw upon to provide the best care and support,” continues Val.
