BLANDFORD Camera Club enjoyed a full house last week for talks by two of its members.
The first half was a pictorial record of Marilyn Peddle's visit to the west coast of Ireland last year and her commentary supported an evocative series of images captured along the coast of County Clare and the Aran Islands. Of particular interest were atmospheric monochrome images that Marilyn had interwoven with her more conventional colour photographs.
In the second half, Jean Bartlett gave a talk based on her trips to Africa. The first, a safari holiday in Kenya, was followed by a similar presentation based on a holiday in Namibia. These offerings were impressive, not merely for their very fine animal studies but also for a number of excellent environmental and un-posed portraits of local Kenyans.
Those interested in the club and its activities should either contact Alf Tompkins on 01258 454450 or visit our website at www.bfcclub.co.uk for details.

Shaftesbury Camera Club held a very popular interactive evening with Brian Tarling who advised photographers on how to develop their skills with low lighting whilst encouraging participation in future competitions.
Brian explained the usefulness of good equipment and passed round what he takes on his night escapades, such as filters, torches, meters, gloves, tripods etc. He then introduced members to his images of low lighting for comment.
