Flood alerts issued as heavy rain set to continue across Dorset

Flood alerts have been issued by the Environment Agency as Dorset continued to battered by heavy rain.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Weather Warning for rain, in place for the rest of today and into tomorrow as the heavy rain is set to continue.

Flood alerts are also in place on the River Frome and rivers in streams around Weymouth, Corfe castle and Swanage and West Dorset.

An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "Up to 40mm of rainfall is forecast to fall in the Dorchester area in the 24 hours from mid-day on Thursday.
