Pre-tax profit increased by 2.3 per cent from £5.6 million in 2011 to £5.7 million. The business said the result is “particularly pleasing despite the strong economic headwinds causing lower consumer confidence and rising material, utility, banking costs and beer duty”.

Halls & Woodhouse can trace its roots back to the 18th century. The business’ Badger Ales range includes ales such as Tanglefoot, Golden Glory and Fursty Ferret.

Halls & Woodhouse also operates about 250 pubs across the South West and South East, and achieved property sales of £2.6 million, as it sold under-performing assets.
