NEXT Tuesday Wincanton Film Society shows the 1949 classic The Third Man at the PEC at King Arthur's school, starting at 7.30pm. The Carol Reed film stars Orson Welles, Joseph Cotton and Trevor Howard, and centres around the search for Harry Lime. Is he really dead? Was he a black marketeer? Watch as the story unfolds against the backdrop of Vienna.
The forests of the south of Argentina are the subject of Les Acacias, to be shown by Bridport Film Society next Tuesday and Yeovil's Cinematheque on Wednesday. Pablo Georgelli makes his directing debut with this road movie, mostly filmed from the cab of a truck driving through the forests and communities, as a drive and his single mother passenger discover their feelings as they exchange the stories of their lives.
On screen tonight, and until Monday, at the Rex is Wareham, is Verity's Summer, in which a teenage girl, a former soldier and a dead body on a Northumbrian beach open up secrets about the war in Iraq.
Tonight's screening is followed by a question and answer session with producer Emma Biggins and director Ben Crowe.

From next Tuesday 19th March for three days, Rex cinemagoers can see Silver Linings Playbook.
This Sunday, 17th March, Shaftesbury Arts Centre has two fundraising screenings of Skyfall, the latest Bond movie, starring Daniel Craig as 007, with Judi Dench, Javier Bardem as a terrifying villain, Ralph Fiennes, Naomi Harris and Albert Finney. See it in Bell Street at 2.30 or at 8pm.
(Skyfall is also at Motcombe Village Hall next Wednesday)
The Seniors Film at the Arts Centre is Quartet, showing next Tuesday 19th March at 2pm. Former operatic soprano Maggie Smith has retained all her diva-ish ways, as the residents of a home for retired musicians discover when she moves in, just in time for the annual Verdi concert.
(Quartet is also at Ditcheat and North Cadbury Village Halls next Thursday and Nunney next Saturday.)
Next Friday 22nd March at Shaftesbury, the film is Headhunters, a Norwegian film about the disappearance of a valuable painting, and based on Jo Nesbo's best-selling novel.
Also on Sunday, the Movie at Athelhampton is Tortoise in Love, all about a gardener who falls for an au pair who comes to work at the big house. But he doesn't understand that women require rather more speedy evidence of attraction than he is accustomed with the plants he tends.
Next Friday 22nd March Petherton Picture Show will screen A Royal Affair, at 8pm. Arriving in Denmark, the soon-to-be Queen has high expectations of her future husband, but she soon he is a childlike, foul-mouthed fool. She finds solace in a German doctor.
