THE Regent Centre in Christchurch has The Dark Knight Rises on screen from tomorrow, Saturday 11th August through to Monday 20th.
Already second only to Titanic as the most successful movie of all time in America, the film has Bournemouth-raised Christian Bale as Batman.
It is eight years since Batman took the blame for DA Harvey Dent's crimes but now the city that disowned him is under threat from a new super terrorist, Bane. The Dark Knight must return to save Gotham City even though the authorities still consider him to be a criminal mastermind. Christian Bale is back as the Caped Crusader with Anne Hathaway purring as everyone's favourite leather-clad siren, Cat Woman and the wonderful Michael Caine as Alfred the butler. The all star cast also includes multiple Oscar and BAFTA winners: Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard with Tom Hardy as Batman's fearsome nemesis, Bane.
It is being hailed as the best Batman movie ever – but not one for chiroptophobes.

This week's films at Poole's Lighthouse Cinema are The Hunter and Friends with Kids, both on from today, Friday to next Thursday 16th August.

Two friends, with no romantic interest in each other, decide to have a baby together and to share the child rearing, avoiding the disastrous effects that children seem to have on the romantic lives of their married or co-habiting parents. Sounds perfect ...

Starting today, Friday, at the Rex in Wareham is The Amazing Spider-Man, on for seven days. Andrew Garfield stars at Peter Parker, developing superpowers in his struggle with Dr Connors aka The Lizard (Rhys Ifans) in this latest adventure in the franchise.
