Enjoy afternoon tea to raise funds for hospice - in memory of Barbara
THE Friends of Barbara Barrett, pictured, a much loved volunteer at Wimborne's Tivoli Theatre, have organised an event to raise funds for Forest Holme Hospice.
You can enjoy afternoon tea - which includes cream tea, cakes, tea or coffee for just £2.50 - at the Priest's House Museum tea room on Sunday 29th September from 2-4pm. All profits to the hospice.
Barbara Barrett was on the fundraising committee of the Tivoli since the beginning and she became chairman of the Executive Council and a trustee. She died of cancer on 20th November 2012.
One of The friends said: "Barbara once told me that she was 'passionate about the Tivoli' and it showed. Her contribution towards the success and underlying culture of the Tivoli is enormous. She was responsible for many of our crazy craft ideas, from Folk Festival 'wavers' to hand made hobby horses and she used to make dozens of finger puppets to accompany our pantomime merchandise – all of this on top of her work as a teaching assistant at St James's school at Gaunt's Common and raising two lovely daughters, Alison and Elizabeth who were brought along to many of our events."
