Crews from Westbourne, Springbourne and Redhill attended as 15 firefighters tackled the lounge blaze using four sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.
Station Manager Dave Graham who attended the incident, said: "Smoke detectors are essential in providing an early warning that a fire is taking place. In order to work to their full potential they need to be placed properly (on the ceiling in a central room, on all floors of your home), tested weekly and the battery needs to be replaced when they run out.
