AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe called on his team to focus on getting back to winning ways after Saturday's defeat over Preston North End at Deepdale.

Two first-half goals ended AFC Bournemouth's unbeaten run of five games as the Lillywhites secured a 2-0 in John Dreyer's first game as caretaker manager.

Early goals from Stuart Beavon and Bailey Wright secured the three points for Preston, but the Cherries still remain top of League One despite the setback.

"There is no doubt that we weren't at our best" said Howe.

"We have had a difficult week with a lot of travelling and we had some tired bodies and minds.

"Yes we are all very disappointed, but we have to look at the bigger picture. We have come a long way in a short space of time and it's how we deal with this that is important now."

The top of the League One table is incredibly tight, with the Cherries leading Sheffield United, Yeovil Town and Doncaster Rovers by a single point.

Doncaster have two games in hand on Bournemouth, while the Blades and Glovers also have one game in hand on the league leaders.

Howe isn't ready to panic and expects his team to respond, and next week's clash against Sheffield will give Bournemouth another huge test.

"We won't forget this defeat, but we must move on to next week" added Howe.

"The players responded magnificently the last time we suffered a defeat. We have to make sure that this is just a set back and no more.

"We have some really important games coming up now and I know that we are ready for the challenge."
