SUTTON Veny racehorse trainer Jeremy Gask scored a stunning victory in the Dubai desert sun when Medicean Man took the $175,000 5f Dubai Excellence Trophy sprint. in 57.13 seconds.

Medicean Man has long been a stable star at Horses First Racing in Sutton Veny and has won over £175,000 in prize money.

He is a horse who has always thrived in the sunshine and Dubai seemed like the perfect option for the horse. He travelled out in early January in a custom fit compression suit for the prestigious Dubai World Cup Carnival and has gone from strength to strength in his training programme.

Drawn in stall one, which is not usually ideal in Meydan sprint races, Medicean Man started at 14-1. He was soon travelling well under jockey Harry Bentley and moving comfortably. There was significant pace early on which suited him and as the two furlong pole approached he took up the running and from there he never looked like being beaten. His fastest furlong was 10.04 and his winning time was 0.03 off the track record. The horse has run some great races over the years and deserved a big win on the international stage. It was a fantastic result for the yard and especially his owners Stuart and Kate Dobb who have been long term supporters of the Jeremy and the team at Sutton Veny.
