Dorset hit by unexpected heavy snow
Large stretches of Dorset woke up to a surprise heavy dusting of snow yesterday morning.
From Dorchester to Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire sections of the region had an unusually late covering of the white stuff.

It caused some localised traffic problems with the A37 in Dorset closed for a period yesterday morning.

But snow at this time of year is far from unheard of, as recently as last year parts of the UK were getting snow in late May.
Places as far south as Shropshire saw snow on May 15 last year, while the Cairngorms in Scotland were snowy well into June.
