Dorset energy business takes inspiration from Fifty Shades of Grey

AFTER the huge success of EL James's Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, Female staff at Ace Energy in Shaftesbury have hit upon an idea to launch their own version of the best selling book.

'Fifty Shades of Green' is a list of tips and advice aimed at householders to save energy in the home by being more green. "As leading suppliers of renewable energy, we are always being asked for ways in which we can reduce energy costs and bring down those electricity bills" said Nicola Seviour of Ace Energy. "We thought we would produce a list and send them out by email to our old and new customers alike and calling it '50 Shades of Green' was a fun way to do it"

One such energy saving tip is to switch any halogen lightbulbs you may have in your home to LED's bulbs. Nicola explains, "We are all aware of the need to use low energy bulbs in the home but many of us are still using old style halogen bulbs in downlights and on tracks typically found in kitchens and bathrooms, and don't realise how expensive they are to run" The average modern home typically has 6-8 of these bulbs and in a recent study people who switched to LED bulbs saved an incredible £15 per year, per bulb in electricity running costs. So the first top tip in Ace Energy's 50 Shades of Green list is to replace those halogen bulbs for new LED's bulbs and see a substantial reduction to your electricity bill.

Dubbed Eco Porn, '50 Shades of Green' also invites readers of the Blackmore Vale magazine to contribute to this list, Nicola said, "We know that many people already have some great tips for saving energy in the home and we would love to hear about them, if you have any tips and want to contribute towards our 50 Shades project then we would love to hear from you"
