Two Dorset homes for people with learning disabilities have moved a step closer to closure.

Dorset County Council is to consult on the closure of Douglas Jackman House in Dorchester and Weymouth’s Alexandra Road.

The two facilities provide accommodation for 22 adults with learning disabilities and employ about 100 staff.

However, there are ten vacant beds across the two and the Care Quality Commission claims both are unfit for full occupancy.
