Dick Stowe, chairman of the Dorset Safeguarding Children Board, said: "Safeguarding is everyone's business. While local government, the police and health services lead, the whole of Dorset has a part to play.

Mr Stowe will officially launch the week at the LV=Streetwise Safety Centre in Bournemouth.
Safeguarding Week aims to make the public more aware of the risks that children find themselves in, often through no fault of their own.
Features, articles, displays and exhibitions will explain what action should be taken if you are concerned about a child's safety.
Ron Lock, chair of the Bournemouth and Poole Local Safeguarding Children's Board said: "One child put at risk is one child too many and there are, sadly too many reported incidents of children suffering needlessly, whether it is a case of bullying in school, the victim of a road accident or worse."
