Dorset Fire and Rescue Service increases council tax charge
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service will increase its council tax charge to 'maintain the essential services it provides.'
Dorset residents will see an increase of £4.95 a year for a Band D property, otherwise the organisation would have to make cuts to services.

Chairman of Dorset Fire Authority Cllr Rebecca Knox said: "The Dorset Fire Authority recognises that there is a need to keep household bills as low as possible but that without this small increase of 9.5p per week, the fire and rescue services here in Dorset - would find it difficult to maintain essential services it provides.
"Even with this increase we are still well below the average fire and rescue service precept level, plus we will still face a £2m shortfall over the coming years."

Dorset Fire Authority haves already suffered when 14 per cent of their budget was cut by central government.
Chief Fire Officer Darran Gunter added: "The Service has already delivered substantial savings in recent years and are forecast to exceed over £4m saving per year by 2015/16.
"Senior management posts have been reduced and many support functions have already been downsized or outsources.
"Members and Officers are determined that everything possible will be done before reductions are made in frontline services."
