Dorset Police Commissioner and MP Annette Brooke hand over petition for lower speed limit in Sandy Lane, Upton
DORSET Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill and MP for Mid Dorset and Poole North, Annette Brooke handed in a petition yesterday to Dorset County Council asking them to reduce the speed limit on Sandy Lane, Upton to 20 miles per hour or to improve safety features.
Two hundred and twenty three people signed the petition.
Martyn Underhill said: “This is the first petition I have handed in since becoming a PCC. I know from speaking to people who live in the area that people feel very strongly about this issue. I hope Dorset County Council take notice and seriously look at either reducing the speed limit or improve safety measures.
“This issue has been raised at PCC Forums and also at public meetings. This is a heavily populated road, used by many pedestrians and cyclists and I fully support plans to make the road safer.”
