The five newly elected Police and Crime Commissioners for the South West met yesterday for the first time to talk about working together and the value of regional collaboration.

The meeting, at Taunton, was hosted by Avon and Somerset’s Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens and was attended by the PCCs for Gloucestershire – Martin Surl; Dorset – Martyn Underhill; Devon and Cornwall – Tony Hogg; and Wiltshire’s Angus Macpherson.

The five PCCs made up of three independents and two Conservatives agreed that party politics would play no part in working together.

Ms Mountstevens said: “I am delighted that all the region’s PCCs could come together and set party politics aside to work together. Regional collaboration is essential to providing good policing services during financially challenging times.”
