Dorset County Council Runs Into Trouble Over Pot Holes
Dorset County Council is running in to trouble over their pothole repair strategy, as they now claim they are running out of money to complete the task.
In April Dorset County Council received £2.75 million from the government to help repair the county's potholes caused by last year's harsh winter. But instead of doing just that the councils have been using the money to resurface problem areas, using more of the money and leaving themselves short. It's no surprise then that Dorset County Council are now complaining the money the government gave them in the first place wasn't enough.

Dorset County Council run out of funds to repair potholes.
Surely they should have known when they started if they resurfaced instead of repaired they would run out of money before the job was done? I agree that maybe town centres should have been resurfaced, but outlaying areas should just have had their potholes covered, especially taking into account we're due another harsh winter.
It makes much more sense to carry out temporary repairs to the potholes and then wait for more money next year to carry out more resurfacing. Trying to resurface everything this year, running out of money and leaving vital work not done is only going to cause accidents and defeat the purpose of the grant.
Dorset County Council only has itself to blame for not planning how to spend that money properly in the first place.
