Diver airlifted for treatment from Lyme Bay
A diver had to be airlifted for treatment from Lyme Bay this afternoon after he surfaced too early putting him at risk of decompression sickness.
Portland Coastguard Helicoper was called at around 1pm to assist the man as he did not stay underwater for the alloted time, putting him at risk of nitrogen bubbles which can cause pain or the bends. In severe cases the condition can be fatal.

The helicopter landed at the Whitecliff Recreation Centre at Poole and the man was taken to a nearby specialist decompression centre for an assessment.
