Work to repair the damaged Weymouth Harbour wall will begin on Monday.

Weymouth and Portland District Council have warned the work could cause disruption until March while piles are driven into place.

15.5m-long hollow steel tubes and steel sheets will be driven and hammered into the ground - forming deep foundations for the harbour wall.

"We are now moving to the next stage of the project and would like to make residents aware that there could potentially be a lot of noise during the piling stage of the works.

"This has to be carried out to get the works done and will be worth it in the long run as it will enable Condor Ferries to return to the borough."

Condor moved services from Weymouth to Poole last summer after severe damage was discovered at Weymouth Harbour.

Millions of public money has been spent in order to repair the ferry berth, with Condor Ferries stating they would like to return to Weymouth by July.
