Discrimination against older jobseekers is “endemic”, with few believing that age discrimination law has helped them find work, according to a new report.

The Age and Employment Network said a survey of 800 over 50s looking for work found that over four out of five felt they were regarded as too old by recruiters.

Around three out of four said prospective employers saw them as too experienced. Some said repealing the default retirement age had made it harder to get work.
