A MAN has been convicted of manslaughter 12 years after the death of a Bournemouth man.
Daniel Scott of no fixed abode yesterday pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Winchester Crown Court and will be sentenced on Friday 4 October.
42-year-old Clive Wilcox was assaulted just before midnight on Friday 4 May, 2001 outside the One Stop Community Shop along Wimborne Road in Winton.
He suffered a serious head injury and died at Bournemouth Hospital the following night.
Inspector Stewart Balmer of Dorset Police's Major Crime Investigation Team said: "This conviction follows an extensive and lengthy investigation and I am pleased that the man responsible for Clive Wilcox's death has now been brought to justice.
"This was a tragic incident that resulted in an innocent man losing his life and I hope that this conviction - some twelve years after Clive's death - will bring some closure to Mr Wilcox's family."
