AFC Bournemouth's dismal form continued as they lost their third game in a row at Crawley Town.

Despite having the better of the play in the first half, the home side took the lead through Hope Akpan - before Joe Walsh doubled the Red Devils' lead before the break.

Lee Barnard gave the Cherries a lifeline after half time, but Nicky Adams secured the three points for Crawley which puts them in third place in League One.

Bournemouth controlled the early stages, but were dealt a blow when Frank Demouge was taken off after ten minutes and replaced by former Crawley striker Matt Tubbs.

The visitors created several half chances, with Eunan O'Kane trying to make his mark. However, Crawley struck against the run of play with their first real chance of the game. Mike Jones's cross wasn't dealt with comfortably by David James, and Akpan was on hand to slot the ball into the empty net.

Moments before half time, Walsh headed past James from close range - giving the Cherries little chance of rescuing the game.

Lee Barnard gave Bournemouth a fighting chance six minutes after the restart as his deflected shot halved the deficit after a good ball from Richard Hughes. The Cherries pushed for an equaliser, but were caught on the break - allowing Adams to fire past James to restore the home side's two-goal advantage.

The Red Devils controlled the remainder of the game, and the late introduction of Steve Fletcher by Cherries boss Paul Groves couldn't bring about a turnaround.
