Couples walk around Dorset to support local children’s health
TWO fit and active couples with a passion for walking and the Dorset countryside have taken up a challenge to walk around the county in support of local children.
Husband and wife teams Richard and Pat Mockridge and Keith and Pam Adams, have taken up the challenge as part of the ‘Harold’s Challenge’ campaign to raise £50,000 to support health and drug prevention education for local children. ‘Harold’ the giraffe puppet has asked the public to take part in a sponsored activity that is healthy and active to raise money for Life Education Wessex, affectionately known by children, parents and teachers as ‘Harold and the Life Bus’. A further donation will be made to the Myelin Project.
Both couples are active Bournemouth Rotary Club members and have so far walked 106 of their 182 mile target starting in Bournemouth going inland from Christchurch and around the north Dorset border to reach the coast. Along their way they have taken in the most stunning scenery, highly popular seaside resorts and glorious beaches from Lyme Regis in the far west, to Weymouth, Swanage and Poole, they hope to finish in Bournemouth at the end of October. They have already completed 12 of their 18 legs and so are well on their way to completing their challenge.
Keith would love to hear from anyone who would like to sponsor them or who may be interested in joining the team on the remaining legs of the walk to the finish line. Keith’s email is firstname.lastname@example.org
