Couple airlifted to safety after being trapped by Charmouth landslip

RNLI crew from Lyme Regis helped two people who were cut off by the tide yesterday.

Portland coastguards needed the assistance of lifeboats after a man and a woman became trapped near a major landslip east of Charmouth.

The lifeboat 'Spirit of Loch Fyne' was launched at around 4pm, but was unable to reach the couple.

The Portland rescue helicopter was able to airlift the couple to safety after help from the RNLI crew.
