Calls to introduce a 20mph speed limit through the centre of Yatton, in North Somerset, have been rejected by parish leaders.

Yatton Partners and Communities Together (PACT) group wrote to the parish council asking it to consider reducing the speed limit through the village from 30mph to 20mph.

People in Yatton have been pressing for a 20mph limit in the village for several years, but councillors ruled it out saying it would not bring any real benefits to the village.

Council clerk Crispin Taylor, said councillors felt it would be difficult to enforce.
