Constable watercolour set to make thousands at Dorset auction
A painting by one of Britain’s greatest artists has been found in Dorset.
The 9in watercolour, discovered in a cardboard folio of prints, has been confirmed as an original by John Constable.
It is set to sell for more than £5,000 when offered for sale by Duke’s Auctioneers on September 26.
The painting is from a series of 140 works produced by Constable in 1803 when he toured the Medway and Thames on the ship ‘The Coutts’
