Coastguard airlifts woman to safety after fall from Giant
A woman was winched to safety by the coastguard after falling and breaking her ankle while walking near the Cerne Abbas Giant.
The 53-year-old suffered the injury when she tumbled down a hill near the ancient chalk figure yesterday.
A coastguard spokeswoman said: "Portland coastguard rescue helicopter was scrambled to assist South Western Ambulance Service with the evacuation of a woman who had fractured her ankle.
"The area was inaccessible to land vehicles and too steep for the air ambulance to land so she was winched to safety.
