No other vehicle was believed to be involved in the collision, and the motorcyclist was not injured.
A two-tear-old black Shineray 125cc motorcycle was stolen from a lay-by where the owner had left it between 1pm on October 12 and 11am on Sunday October 14.
Police Constable Mat Silvey of Christchurch Police said: "It is very distressing for the victim to be firstly involved in a collision and then to have his bike stolen.
"The lay-by is on a very busy road and I am hopeful that someone witnessed the motorbike being recovered. It is possible that the offenders used another vehicle to help them steal the bike.
"I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, and anyone who may have information about the offenders or any vehicle that may have been used."
Anyone with information should contact Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 14:212.
