Junior bookworms will be the first to explore the new children's area at Poole Central Library during its official opening on 25 March.

Armed with their new library cards, 30 children from Longfleet CE VC Combined School will visit the new-look area, which has benefited from a seaside themed makeover, as part of their bookweek.

Fitted with new children's furniture, new carpet, shelving and painted artwork, the area now has a bright, fresh look and provides an inviting area for children up to the age of 11 to enjoy.

During its first week it is anticipated that over 200 children will visit the new-look library.

Councillor Judy Butt, Cabinet Portfolio Holder, Borough of Poole, said: "It’s great to see the children's area in our Central Library looking so appealing a perfect reading haven for children. It's a fantastic opportunity for our children and their families to come along and enjoy a taster session at this excellent facility."

Funded by Borough of Poole this is the first phase of improvements aimed at young children. Further improvements for teenagers will be carried out later in the year.
