Chelsea players Rohan Ince and Archange Nkumu end Yeovil Town loan spells

Chelsea duo Rohan Ince and Archange Nkumu are likely to have made their final Yeovil Town appearances.

Both players are back at Stamford Bridge, with Nkumu’s loan coming to an end and manager Gary Johnson not looking to keep him at Huish Park for longer.

Ince’s stay has also come to an end, with the Premier League giants recalling the youngster for treatment on a persistent ankle injury first sustained in pre-season at Newport County.

Ince started just once for the Glovers, limping off after disappointing at Leyton Orient to be replaced by Nkumu, who was making his sole appearance himself.

Johnson signed Fulham defender Daniel Burn to add cover this week and said Nkumu’s inexperience combined with a desire to play in midfield made up his mind.

“We needed another centre back because we only had Hinds and Webster,” said Johnson. “Webster is on four bookings – one more and he will be suspended – and you need three centre halves at least. They are the three at the moment that we will be going with.

“We decided that Archange wasn’t experienced enough to go with the inexperience that we have already got. Chelsea gave us the opportunity to have a look at him and see what we thought but I couldn’t really feel I could put him in any particular position.

“He believes he is a midfield player, that is where he wants to play but I needed him to be a centre half and he wouldn’t have been a very big centre half anyway. You have got to be fairly big and strong.”

Yeovil’s squad took their minds off a run of four straight npower League One defeats by taking to Clay Pigeon Raceway’s karting circuit on Tuesday.

Johnson said: “To be fair to them, that was their idea. They’re a really good bunch of lads, they want to learn and they want to get the camaraderie that is needed. I saw that white water rafting in Wales that they had that about them and it is a group where they all hold their hands up if it’s not going well and they are all trying to put it right.

“The choice was for them to sit at home and put their feet up or go and do a little bit of socialising with their team-mates. They have gone to Clay Pigeon Raceway for karting. It’s good for some of the newer lads and it will bring them round quickly after the weekend.”
