Fun fair boss disappointed at carnival decision
THE man behind the family-run fun fair at Castle Cary and Ansford Carnival has voiced disappointment that they will not be visiting the town this year.
Peter Burnett, 60, will not bring his selection of fair-ground rides to the town's carnival this weekend after he was told the site used for the past 23 years is no longer available.
He said: "We have been coming to Castle Cary for 37 years and we are very disappointed that we can't find anywhere to set up this year.
"I was told about a month ago that we couldn't use the previous site and we have been working with the carnival committee and the council to find an alternative location but we have not been able to. A few other suggestions were made but nowhere big enough for all our equipment. We do feel very let down. It seems very sad that nowhere can be found for us.

"Castle Cary is one of the best fairs we do, where the people are lovely, welcoming and generous.
"We would love to return to Castle Cary next year if we can find somewhere to go."
Castle Cary Town Council Chairman Terry Philpott said although it was not within the council's remit to find an alternative site, he had been eager to help find a solution.
He said: "It's a shame we have not been able to sort anything out. It has not been for the want of trying."
Castle Cary Carnival takes place on Saturday at 7.30pm.
