Carers can have their say on hospital experience
THE Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has launched a carers questionnaire to canvass the opinions of those who usually care for patients when they are not in hospital.
The aim of the Working in Partnership with Carers questionnaire is to collate vital feedback from carers and then use it to improve the experience for all. Questions include ‘did staff listen to you about the needs of the patient?’ and ‘did you feel you had enough support to enable you to provide care on discharge?’.
Also included in the questionnaire are a number of questions linked to the dementia CQUIN – a national quality initiative used to help identify patients with dementia. These specific questions will assist the Trust in understanding how we meet the needs of these speciality patients, alongside all other patients who have a carer.
Lisa Lee, Dementia CQUIN Project Lead, said: “The feedback from these questionnaires is very important to the Trust as it will provide valuable information for work going forwards, and highlight both good practice and areas where we can improve.”

The questionnaires are printed on yellow card and are available from all inpatient wards across the hospital. There is also space to include comments. The cards can then be posted in the red patient experience boxes positioned on the wards. The results will be shared with the specific ward or area and any trends identified addressed trust wide.
