Bus company to take on Merley routes
MOREBUS are to support the Borough of Poole by taking on the contract to operate a new service 445 between Bearwood and Merley and Wimborne's Allenbourn School. This will replace part of a route to be withdrawn by rival bus operator Yellow Buses. Morebus are also enhancing their unsubsidised week day service route 11 between Alderney, Bearwood and Poole, by adding an hourly Saturday service to help bus users travel where further cuts have been made.
Adam Keen, operations manager at Poole based morebus, said that its hoped that they will be able to sustain the additional services: "The new service 445 to Allenbourn School will also provide a lifeline for full fare paying passengers and senior concession pass holders as well as pupils; this revenue will be vital as the Borough of Poole contract only covers part of the operating costs but will help plug the gap to services left in that region."
He added that the new provision of a Saturday service on route 11 is entirely run at the company's own risk: "We therefore hope that passengers support us by making good use of the reliable, high quality new services planned."
Bus users in the Alderney, Merley, Bearwood, and Wimborne areas who will be affected by the cuts are advised to find full route and timetable information by visiting www.morebus.co.uk
