PUPILS and staff in Bradford Abbas are celebrating exam results which have led a Government minister to praise them as one of the top performing schools in the country.

St Mary’s Primary School has received a letter from Schools Minister David Laws, MP for Yeovil, congratulating head teacher Emma Grunnill on the performance of pupils in last year’s national key stage two exams. The results, released last month, showed an overall percentage of the pupils achieving the level 4+.

In his letter, Mr Laws commented: “Combined with excellent rates of progress in both English and maths, this places you among the top performing primary schools in 2013.”

Mr Laws congratulated the staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success.

She said: “The letter is a really positive affirmation of our commitment as a school to ensuring our pupils achieve their full potential, academically and personally.”
