A Bournemouth beach is being turned back to front with 3,500 tonnes of sand being moved from one end to the other.

The sand, which has piled up at Gordons Corner, Southbourne, because of wind and wave action, is being moved west back towards Boscombe Pier by the council.

The council said moving the sand was “far more cost-effective” than bringing in new material. A spokesman said visitors using the prom would not be affected.
