Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch callers will have to use area code from tomorrow
Phone users in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch will from tomorrow need to dial the local area code - even when making a local call.
Ofcom has announced that people whose number starts 01202 will have to dial the area code from November 1 to get hold of people in the Dorset conurbation.

An Ofcom spokesperson said: "The change is designed to safeguard the future supply of landline numbers in the Bournemouth area and avoid the need to change existing phone numbers.
"The supply of new landline numbers also ensures that residents and businesses continue to enjoy the widest choice of telecom providers."

Ofcom is currently working alongside communication providers, local authorities, local consumer and business groups and charities to help inform people of the changes.
If people forget to dial the 01202 code, they will hear a free message telling them to include the code when they redial.
The price of local calls will not be affected by dialling the area code.
