Botanical artist Susan Corbett to exhibit at Guggleton
AMONG the exhibitors at Guggleton Gallery, Stalbridge this month is local artist Susan Corbett who has worked as an illustrator at the British Natural History Museum.
Susan trained as a portraitist with Signorina Simi at Pietro Annigoni's school of fine art in Florence. After working as an illustrator she became an air hostess before following her soldier husband around the world.
Since his retirement she has resumed her art career as a painter in watercolours specialising in flowers, animals and birds. Now living at Oborne, near Sherborne, Susan teaches art and paints professionally.
The exhibition will be held from Saturday 26th October to 2nd November.

There will also be oil and watercolour paintings by Nicola Butler, Patricia de Chair, Josephine Gardner, Tim Hobson, Jane Hooper, Nicky Leader and Fran Wood with sculptures by Martin Preston.
Also exhibiting is Philip Lawson Johnston of Oxford with his engraved glass.
He has achieved international recognition through his specially commissioned works for individuals and organisations around the world. In January 2009 he was granted a Royal Warrant to be Hand-Engraver of Glass to the Queen. He is also an Associate Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers.
His subject matter ranges widely, covering heraldry, inscriptions, company logos, people's interests, buildings and portraits of people, horses and dogs, and biblical subjects.
