Blandford mum's Kiimanjaro trek for Diabetes UK
TRINE Pedersen, who lives in Blandford, decided to join a trek up Kilimanjaro after spotting a piece asking for participants in the BVM.
Trine says, “I saw an advert in the Blackmore Vale Magazine last summer for the trek up Kilimanjaro.
“Having signed up, lots of people asked me which charity I was raising funds for - I picked Diabetes UK as my 14 year old son George was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes nearly two years ago.
“Instead of sponsorship I asked the charity for some collection tins - one at my workplace and another at The Blandford School, where my son George is about to start year 10.

“We did the Machame route, six days up and one day down and I was petrified I was not going to make it although, as it was, I was one of the least affected by the altitude in our group and I’m glad to say, made it to the summit.”
